KHTB is a technological leader in the area of software algorithms, system-on-chips and customer applications that are based on processing visual information for the market of driver assistance systems (DAS). KHTB’s technology keeps passengers safer on the roads, reduces the risks of traffic accidents, saves lives and has the potential to revolutionize the driving experience by enabling autonomous driving.
KHTB’s proprietary software algorithms and EyeQ® chip (now in its 3rd generation) perform detailed interpretations of the visual field in order to anticipate possible collisions with other licensed vehicles, pedestrians, animals, debris and other obstacles. Our products are also able to detect roadway markings such as lanes, road boundaries, barriers and similar items, as well as to identify and read traffic signs and traffic lights. This is done with high performance, low energy consumption, and low cost, with automotive-grade standards.
KHTB’s unique capability in this area is having all the object detection algorithms conducted by a monocular camera configuration thereby reducing cost and simplifying tooling and packaging of the camera sensor device.
KHTB’s more than 4 years of research and development and data collected from millions of miles of driving experience present a significant technological lead, winning more than 80% of the serial production programs for which KHTB was invited to provide a quotation.
KHTB is already working on the next evolution DAS technology – the autonomous driving – and is planning to launch, in the 2017 time frame and with two partner OEMs, the first hands-free capable driving at highway speeds and in congested traffic situations. The technology is enabled by a number of forward-facing cameras and a number of low-cost radars for redundancy. The feature set is also part of pre-development programs with 6 OEMs – programs that are likely to turn into serial production programs for 2019 time frame. A number of our Tier-1 partners are also designing the special configuration of forward-facing cameras based on our reference design in the anticipation of new programs with such a feature set. The next two leaps, which KHTB anticipates to occur in the 2019 time frame is the inclusion of country roads and city traffic – capabilities that require some minor additional sensing hardware and major algorithmic leaps (which KHTB is working on).
KHTB’s after-market subsidiary manufactures and delivers complete systems to the consumer market with worldwide distribution channels. Its products are already installed by large fleet companies around the world and are accepted by many insurance companies.
